| The life expectancy tables are used for many purposes. It is very helpful
to know the average life expectancy. In planning for retirement, a person can then make plans to
ensure that he or she will have adequate income for that number of years. Since it is always possible
to live longer than the average expectancy by monitoring your health, nutrition and exercise, it is
wise to plan to live several years longer than the average expectancy.
